The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) in collaboration with the School of Graduate Studies, University of Ghana, Universities of Lund, Gothenburg and Uppsala is organizing a ‘Methodology and Field Studies in Development Research School’ for doctoral researchers in Ghana. The research school seeks to foster high-quality and boundary-crossing doctoral research in sustainable development by equipping students with advanced methodological skills to critically engage with and interrogate issues such as power, inequality, and governance in sustainable development research.
The programme aims to:
- Equip participants with critical skills to conduct advanced research in sustainable development.
- Encourage critical engagement with the philosophical, ethical, and practical dimensions of field research.
- Foster interdisciplinary research and collaboration among young scholars in development research.
The four-day programme will be held at ISSER, University of Ghana from Tuesday 12th to Friday 15th May 2026.
Doctoral students from social science-related disciplines across universities in Ghana are invited to apply.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be at the early stage of doctoral research
- Must be enrolled in a social sciences-related field.
- Must be registered in a doctoral programme at a Ghanaian university.
- Female doctoral researchers are encouraged to apply
